SIMON ROGAN

L’Enclume in The Lake District & restaurants in London, Phuket, Hong Kong & Malta

Simon Rogan is one of the most influential chefs in British gastronomy, known for his pioneering approach to farm-to-table dining and his commitment to sustainability long before they became fashionable.  His career has been shaped by a deep respect for seasonal ingredients, innovative techniques, and a dedication to creating immersive dining experiences.

Rogan’s journey began in Southampton, where he developed an early appreciation for fresh produce through his father, who worked in a wholesale fruit and vegetable market. His culinary career took off when he trained under Jean-Christophe Novelli, followed by stints with Marco Pierre White and John Burton-Race. These experiences refined his technical skills and instilled in him a passion for precision and creativity.

In 2002, Rogan opened L’Enclume in Cartmel, Cumbria, which quickly became one of the UK’s most celebrated restaurants. L’Enclume earned its first Michelin star in 2005, followed by 2 Michelin stars in 2013, and ultimately achieved the prestigious 3 Michelin stars in 2022. The restaurant is renowned for its hyper-local approach, sourcing ingredients from Rogan’s own farm, Our Farm, which supplies fresh produce directly to his kitchens.

Beyond L’Enclume, Rogan has expanded his culinary empire with several acclaimed restaurants. Rogan & Co, also in Cartmel, holds a Michelin star, offering a more relaxed yet refined dining experience. His experimental kitchen, Aulis, provides an intimate chef’s table experience, allowing guests to engage directly with the creative process. Rogan has also ventured internationally, opening Roganic Hong Kong, which earned a Michelin star and a Green Star for sustainability.

Rogan’s influence extends beyond traditional fine dining. He has launched pop-up restaurants, including the revival of Roganic, which originally operated as a temporary concept in London before becoming a permanent fixture. His commitment to sustainability has earned him recognition in the Michelin Guide 2025, where his restaurants retained their prestigious stars.

Throughout his career, Rogan has remained dedicated to mentoring young chefs and pushing the boundaries of modern British cuisine. His ability to blend tradition with innovation has made him a defining figure in the culinary world. As he continues to evolve, his impact on sustainable dining and ingredient-led cooking ensures that his legacy will endure.

"When I hang up my apron, I want to be known as someone that made a difference." – Simon Rogan
